FRACTO – Experimental Film Encounter returns to ACUD Kunsthaus in Berlin from May 22–25, 2025. We’re happy to share the full line up & selection of the upcoming edition with you today!
The 2025 program brings together 33 films from 21 countries, including world, European, and German premieres. Spanning five curated selections and a focused two-part retrospective, the works are presented in 16mm, 35mm, and digital formats.
Processes of care, erosion, fragmentation, and immediacy thread through the program. Each selection opens a space where film emerges as gesture, surface, interval. Through haptic operations and structural tensions, the selections privilege sensuous materiality and the spatial-temporal dislocation of perceptual terrains.
Selection #1 CARING / Selection #2 TALKING OF A LAND / Selection #3 HOUSEHOLD TALES / Selection #4 FLESH AND BONES / Selection #5 LIGHT AND NOISE

DÓRA MAURER RETROSPECTIVE
A special highlight is the two-part retrospective of Hungarian artist Dóra Maurer (b. 1932), a leading figure of the neo-avant-garde. Her cross-disciplinary works reflect decades of experimentation and resistance during Hungary’s socialist era. The focus offers a parallel approach to a main program—precision, movement, repetition—where image becomes a dynamic system of variation.
Screenings: May 23 & 24, in cooperation with Collegium Hungaricum Berlin and the Hungarian National Film Archive.
