Open City Documentary Festival 2025 is taking place from 6-11 May across London venues. As a festival, our aim is to create an open space in London to nurture and champion the art of non-fiction cinema and artists' moving image, from new releases to archival restorations.

This year, our special programmes include Moving Statics, a retrospective of the works of Australian filmmaking couple Arthur and Corinne CantrillVALIE EXPORT, a close look at the career of one of the most radical audiovisual artists of the 20th and 21st centuries as well as Jocelyne Saab’s Egypts, 1976–1989 which consists of newly restored films by the pioneering Lebanese director. In addition, we’re thrilled to present new films by Rhea Storr, Maxime Jean-Baptiste, Hope Strickland, Luke Fowler, Alexander Horwath, John Smith and many more.
