The tenth edition of LATERALE will take place in Cosenza (Italy), at cinema San Nicola, from August 27th to 29th 2026. This year's edition, under the them of 'think invisible things', brings a selection of seventeen works from all over the world.
The festival promotes a free and stimulating platform for sharing, showcasing what is usually neglected or rejected due to its departure from conventional approaches to making and interpreting cinema.

The Light Movement series returns this summer for the first time since 2018. The series aims to project rarely seen works of personal/poetic cinema in their original formats to a Berlin audience.
"Beacon of Flesh", an experimental rock opera shot on Super 8, is coming from Baltimore, MD to a city near you! My name's Biff - I directed the film, operated the camera, and composed the music. The star of the film, Robin Pleasure (who also played drums in the studio recordings!) is joining me on a tour of the USA as we live in a van and screen this strange film wherever we can! For the first time, the MNCARS’s summer cinema programme includes an experimental film section, centred on the experience and feeling of bodies under water. This session glides between the ostentatious aquatic architecture of Barbara Hammer and Barbara Klutinis and Jakobois’s fantasies, fleeting contact and wet, sexualised bodies. Six completely different swimming pools — private, public, transparent, bottomless, indoor, outdoor — all designed for leisure, competition and desire, nonetheless.

How It Works: Based on a simple task or score, that is introduced and shared at the beginning of each lab, the participants are invited to conceive individual film-choreographic miniatures within a 1½-hour timeframe.
