Real-time cartographic improvisations using projected, manipulated digital maps by Eric Theise, in collaboration with the ambient and noise soundscapes of vocalist Maria Del Carmen Camarena, bass player Eliud Ernandes, and guitarist Gustavo Larroyo. A visual wash of street grids, land masses, water bodies, and curiosities from built and natural environments. Auditory roundabouts and redirections. Orphaned labels. Free-floating symbology. Colors of jazz, Americana and Latin music. Jittery zooms, pans, and traversals. Glitches in crowdsourced data.

The performance will last one hour and will occasionally introduce strobing effects that may affect photosensitive viewers.

Maria Del Carmen Camarena is a soprano from Guadalajara with a background in Belcanto and a taste for exploring sounds from different parts of the world. Her more than 20 years of musical career have seen her form part of various groups, such as Les Femmes de Serge, Ensamble Siglos Pasados, and RADAID. In July 2023, she published her first solo album, inspired by stories, fantasy and science fiction works. The album is titled Un Ala, which means “one wing”. This is based on the idea that we are limited beings; birds with only one wing, and that we can still fly.

Eliud Ernandes began his artistic training at the young age of four years old. He has received awards and recognition from institutions such as Yamaha in Mexico and Japan, the Consulate of Mexico in Houston, Texas, the office of Master Leo Brouwer in Havana, Cuba, and the Mayor's Office of Santa Cruz, California. He has collaborated either recording or performing with artists from Mexico, Argentine, Frances, Spain, the Netherlands, and the US.

In addition to his musical activities, he produces the largest livelooping event in Latin America, Mexico Y2K International Live Looping Festival, having as one of its main objectives linking the music and culture of various nations, generating an international community of artists that collaborate, dialogue and develop new ways of making music.

He is arranger and musical director of the Mexican productions of the off-Broadway musicals: Sessions, National Pastime and Paparazzi, and part of the project Broadway Without Borders, with which he is fully identified, since it does not only represent a job opening for Mexican artists abroad but more importantly, tear down the walls that divide us ideologically.
