Braquage welcomes artist Sergej Vutuc for a weekend of screenings and an exhibition, to mark the release of his latest book.
Originally from the former Yugoslavia (he grew up in Zagreb), having traveled wherever skateboarding, punk, and alternative urban cultures could take him, Sergej Vutuc lived for many years in Germany and now resides in Paris.
Since the mid-1990s, Sergej's work has focused on observing the (over)development of modern society and the privatization of public space, nature being conquered by concrete, and this same concrete being conquered by the subversive act of skateboarding. It is a nomadic movement across space and time, an infinite sense of mobility.
Saturday, May 3:
Starting at 4 p.m.: Opening of the exhibition and book launch of IZ KRUŽNOG TOKA, a performative archival box, made up of eight loops from a performance with projectors: https://sergejvutuc.bigcartel.com/product/iz-kruznog-toka-sergej-vutuc-p...
8:30 p.m.: IZ KRUŽNOG TOKA, an audiovisual performance with 16mm projectors and pedals, based on the transmission of information from one medium to another and the formation of meaning, staging a form that exists in the moment. The films, i.e., the loops, were created using a photocopier, using photographs—a frozen reality and the unexpected results of direct movements during reproduction—as well as screenshots of documents from the time.
9:30 PM: REMINDER, an audiovisual improvisation performance by MÉRRYL AMPE & SERGEJ VUTUC, a project in progress!
Sunday, May 4:
Starting at 4 PM: Opening of the IZ KRUŽNOG TOKA exhibition
6 PM: ROUNDABOUT - SKATEBOARD FILM FESTIVAL, skate film screening #1
8 PM: ROUNDABOUT, screening #2
