Microscope is excited to welcome back to the gallery filmmaker and artist Lynne Sachs for a heartfelt tribute to Narcisa Hirsch in connection with Hirsch’s current exhibition at the gallery.
On the occasion of Bay Area Now 9, Cinematheque returns for two special screenings at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in the month of October. Running October 6–31, CROSSROADS at 14 looks back on the first fourteen years of Cinematheque’s annual festival. San Francisco Cinematheque: Contemporary Views from the Bay Area, featuring work by ten Bay Area filmmakers created 2020–2023, screens October 21.

The 69th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is presenting five shows of works by filmmakers and artists from different generations and countries who work with the short form in very different ways. The PHI Foundation presents Severing the Impact on Memory, an online video program in conjunction with the exhibition Lee Bae: UNION.
Through processes of reimagination, preservation and transformation, memory allows us to narrate reality and a fictionalized memory, to look into the past, the feeling of belonging, and death. This video program explores the memory of what makes life tangible, and considers how both the body and nature experience, measure and translate the impact of change. This program includes videos by Patricia Domínguez, Jean-Jacques Martinod, and Lynne Sachs and Barbara Hammer.
