    In Santa María Tlahuitoltepec, in the state of Oaxaca, the women's organization Poj Kaa manages a community herbarium. Plant-searching expeditions are a way to share knowledge with midwives, healers, and xëmaapyë. In Teotitlán del Valle, the Ruiz family searches for colors they find in plants and insects, which they use to dye the wool they use to weave rugs. Both practices involve traveling the land, recognizing it, naming it, and connecting with everything it contains.

    Space is a raw material and a special subject for film: any film is the encounter of a place (be it that of the room or the screen) and an imaginary. The moving image allows a motionless trip, it is a transit that deploys imagination by objectifying. So travel through the images is also a journey in the image: it is this duplicity that underlies all these films, that explore the boundary between the real space and the imaginary that is appropriated or transmitted, be it technical or subjective.

  • Jerusalem In My Heart - Espace en Cours (Paris)

    With performances occurring 1-3 times per year, no two Jerusalem In My Heart events have ever been the same: configurations have ranged from 2 to 24 participants, with varying degrees of theatrical stage action alongside a film/video component. Jerusalem In My Heart currently exists around the core of Radwan Ghazi Moumneh carrying musical duties and Montreal filmmaker Charles-André Coderre projecting hand-made visuals using analog 16mm film & 35mm slides on multiple site-specific screen installations. Moumneh's vocals and purposefully blown-out sonic sensibility have been the consistent thread, but the music of JIMH has never repeated itself either – one of the reasons Moumneh has resisted any official documentation or definitive recording of the project over the past eight years. At long last, in 2012 Moumneh cleared time and mental space to record a song cycle that cements the foundations of JIMH as an intensely vocal-driven musical project.
