Josh Deveau - Relics
A series of scenes from his work of the last 5 years

"A 'punk' mashup of my films "A Weekend (a very good movie)", "The Rosselsons", "A Week Off (an even better movie)", and "A Pregnancy (a very serious movie)".

Josh Deveau - A Greater Boston based artist/film maker, MassArt ’13 Alumni. His work focuses on his offbeat, absurd, in your face sense of humor. Described as “deeply tongue-in-cheek camp melodramas”, his work provokes viewers to laugh, though the way you laugh will vary from the standard ‘LOL’ to the less popular ‘Face Palm, Head Shake, and Giggle’.

Neil Henderson's work has encompassed multiple projector pieces, experiments with the materiality of film and photography, and films about landscape. His work has been shown at Diversions Film Festival, Edinburgh; the Onion City Film Festival, Chicago; Kettle's Yard, Cambridge; Anthology Film Archives, New York and Modern Art Oxford. In 2009 his film Circles was shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing prize. His work is discussed in Nicky Hamlyn's Film Art Phenomena (London: BFI, 2003). He studied at the Kent Institute of Art and Design and the Slade School of Art and teaches Film Studies at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.

"In five silent 'sketch' films, introduced by San Francisco morning’s newspaper and its date, Japanese filmmaker Tomonari Nishikawa assembles single-frame constructions of cityscapes, of walks down streets, which take on their own quietly spastic frenzy even while evoking other things, such as the many-eyed camera of a Google Street View street car gone into a drunken, propulsive swoon. Lines, circles, numbers, windows, doorways, oval windows and buildings that persist only as angled precipice. Fragmentary glimpses are patterned to create an illusion of persistence of vision, but they are shards upon shards. Weirdly, the effect is both limpid and soothing.

In the mini-DV 'Clear Blue Sky,' ordinary traffic sounds of a warm day rise up against images slightly out-of-focus, or reflected across metal, like a funhouse mirror fashioned from macular degeneration."
