All of these work deal somewhat with a fake factor. Part Time Heroes handles the star concept, in a larger than life way; Running Sushi refers to comics and manga. Burning Palace, on the other hand, is based on The Art of Seduction. (...) For the human body to remain interesting, one must constantly put it in a different light or in another context. One has to look at the body sideways. With this, one achieves a large choreographic change in perspective, because everything is altered. In another context, one also experiences the body in a new way, already because you view it differently.
The story of my hair can be told in two lines. My hair was long and black. It has turned white. It hasn't been cut since 1982, almost thirty years ago. Story of my Hair is a journey, both in space and in time. Anyone looking for truths, whether geographical, scientific or historical, will be disappointed. After looking at real events and real places the film very soon distances itself from them, preferring poetry and fiction. In his own fashion the auteur has combined the story of Samson and Delilah, the journey of those condemned to the death camps, the science of hair and a few thoughts about the meaning and fragility of life.
James Lowne's Our Relationships will become Radiant, invites us to experience a digital dream, a suffocating demonic landscape where a horse runs without moving, a man vomits black bile, a plate of food oozes with it own sense of purpose, whilst a godlike visage hovers beneficently in the sky. Such uncanny occurence allow Lowne to map out a space of oblique anomie, a world were ephemeral gestures attain meaning only by being endlessly repeated.
Maia Conran's split screen work Term, mirrors a series of still and tracking video shots of the interior spaces of a disused school with its animated monochrome copy, that mimicks scene for scene the original video footage. Throughout the work Conran invites us to consider what is more real, the video of the school or its animated reconstruction, leading to a progressive condensation of reality, as the animated version slowly invades the authentic space of the video.

Looking to the past while investigating the present, the mathematician-turned-filmmaker condenses three distinct Californian landscapes into a total of 105 shots, each exactly 2½ minutes long. Formal restraint and compositional precision combine with ambient sound and an unheard social commentary to create a hypnotic journey across the 31st US State; from the Great Central Valley (El Valley Centro) through greater Los Angeles (Los) to the Californian wilderness (Sogobi).
