    Dominic Angerame's works search for unfamiliar views of seemingly familiar things: cities, landscapes, faces, and bodies. The filmmaker's desire to make everyday images "strange" at the editing table, to learn to see them fresh and to estrange them from our senses, makes his films seem - in all the different social realities they contain - always distanced as well, as if they led to another world beyond the concrete, beyond time and defined space.

    Tone Glow is excited to announce “On the Move,” two programs of avant-garde dance films and road movies that will take place on Sunday, October 13th at 2PM and Monday, October 14th at 7PM. Screenings will be held at Sweet Void Cinema in Chicago. These films showcase a wide range of styles and ideas regarding the notion of a “dance film” and “road movie,” finding ways to complicate and expand their meaning. The intent is to further encourage contemplation of these works through their juxtapositions.

En la sala se desarrollará una película que no sabemos si llegó a existir o si se desmaterializó antes de ser. Puede que el celuloide tome la sala y se expanda fuera de la imagen proyectada. O al contrario, que todas las ideas que se dan cita en una sala se condensen y se visualicen en la película de la película. O, simplemente, que no lo veamos sino que nos lo cuenten.

    "Intermittence penetrates to the very core of our being, and film vibrates in a way that is close to this core." In his book Devotional Cinema, filmmaker Nathaniel Dorsky identifies the feeling of illness or health that follows experiencing certain films, and locates as the cause a film's ability to "mirror and realign our metabolism." For example, the intermittent quality of light in film projection is not unlike our natural vision or the way we experience life (with gaps and moments of the unknown).
