  • MuMaBox: Films in color

    A program in the form of a light spectrum, where each film is dominated by a color.

    Announced in the title (Black-White-Gray, Blue, Gold), or its subject matter (A Light Wind in the Foliage), a metaphor for light energy (Loretta), the result of natural mixtures (Landscape Anomalies), laboratory manipulations (Drift), or the use of expired film stock (Tree Again), color asserts itself in the image, even reaching monochrome.

  • Light Held In Time: The films of Jerome Hiler and Nathaniel Dorsky

    Cinema Konsonant and Kino Ponrepo present a two-evening program of the films of Jerome Hiler and Nathaniel Dorsky.

    Nathaniel Dorsky's cinema centers on a poetic montage — relying not on a descriptive narrative but on an intuitive consonance between images. With this "polyvalent editing" technique Dorsky makes one image "resonate" with another several frames later. His films register objects of everyday life with great care and delicacy, making just a brief encounter in a poetic gap between too much meaning and no meaning at all.

    Known for her hand-processed 16mm experimental films, Naomi Uman’s kaleidoscopic practice blends feminist perspectives with an exploration of documentary form. Her tactile portrayals of everyday life, women's labour, and the layered dynamics of shared existence reveal a world in which multiple boundaries—geographical, cultural, temporal, and emotional—intertwine and blur. Every borderline is at once tangible, fabricated, invisible, and imagined.

Transmitted from generation to generation and repurposed through time, its folkloric traditions have become an integral part of the legacies that shape us. Jan Vromman weaves together three generations of his family’s involvement in the local processions and parades, while Tine Guns directs our attention to the use of masks and costumes as a strategy for subversion.
