One Minute Volume 12
curated by Kerry Baldry

Curated by Peter Todd, this programme is centred on two films by visionary filmmakers Gregory J. Markopoulos and Margaret Tait. Both films centre on place; interior in Bliss and exterior in Garden Pieces. It also celebrates the preservation, advocacy, and restoration necessary to continued circulation of such works. Bliss is by Markopoulos who, in the last ten years of his life, toiled over Eniaios, the ultimate reworking of his entire film oeuvre.

This programme is a survey of some of Stephen Littman's videos alongside sequences from the work of David Larcher (1942-2023) that Littman has compiled. Larcher was a maverick filmmaker whose epic work includes the legendary Mare's Tail (1969) and Monkey's Birthday (1975). Larcher sought Littman's advice when he moved from filmmaking to video in the early 1980s.

Introduced by Peter Todd with Luke Fowler, Anthea Kennedy and Ian Wiblin in attendance.

“There is no language. There is no art. There is no knowledge. There is but film as film: the beginning and the eternal moment.” – Gregory J. Markopoulos

“In poetry, something else happens. Hard to say what it is. Presence, let’s say, soul or spirit, an empathy with whatever it is that’s dwelt upon, feeling for it – to the point of identification". – Margaret Tait
