DOBRA – International Festival of Experimental Cinema emerged ten years ago as a gathering of friends who shared their passion for experimental film. Throughout its trajectory, the festival has established itself as a vibrant space in Brazil, presenting screenings, performances, debates, workshops, and other initiatives that push the boundaries of cinema.
Together with the festival’s founders, Cristiana Miranda and Lucas Murari, eight curators were invited this year to conceive a special edition dedicated to Brazilian cinema: Ж, Carlos Adriano, Janaína Oliveira, Kátia Maciel, Liciane Mamede, Sávio Leite, Tetsuya Maruyma, and yann beauvais. In total, 75 works spanning different generations will be shown, organized into 10 curatorial programs that chart multiple and open-ended paths. The festival will feature analog projections in formats such as Super-8, 16mm, and 35mm, in addition to digital screenings.
