On 31 March and 1 April, Image Forum Cinémathèque (Tokyo) will screen four films under the title ‘An Introduction to 8mm Film in 2026’, including the final work of Yoichiro Serizawa, who sadly passed away last year.

Is it not the act of making an 8mm film that continues to trace the outline of the movie with your fingertips in a place far from the mainstream?
Instead of being found little in value as a commodity, it is not consumed as a fad.
There, the talent and the hurt of the maker are exposed too directly.
In the end, an eight-millimeter film is a cruel and honest form of film that can only be achieved by the creator declaring to himself that "this is a movie."

In this screening, I will not stick to the film screening, but I dare to possess it in digital media.
