Rose Lowder (Lima 1941) is a French-Peruvian artist and filmmaker. In focussing her research on visual perception in relation to the cinematographic means of expression, Lowder concentrates on the different ways one can modify the graphic and photographic visual features of the image as it transforms in time. This work led her to compose the image in the camera, usually by interweaving the frames as the film strip passes the lens several times.

Tom Palazzolo (1937) was born in St. Louis, MO in 1937. His interest in painting led him to move to Chicago in 1960 and begin studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he also studied photography with Kenneth Josephson. Ken encouraged Tom’s interest in filmmaking, and Tom was given use of a Bell and Howell 16mm camera that had been donated to the department by a veteran WWII cameraman. Tom’s first films were completed shortly after his graduation with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in photography in 1965.

David Haxton (b. 1943, Indianapolis, Indiana) is an artist who works primarily in Photography and Film. His films from the 1970’s and early 1980’s were made mostly in negative, with a static camera position, and were made in one take. In these films the space filmed is revealed gradually by a performer, while the intrinsic flatness of the illuminated screen is maintained.
