(S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico celebra su séptima edición del 1 al 5 de junio en A Coruña, reuniendo un año más a destacados nombres del cine experimental y de vanguardia. En esta ocasión el festival celebrará una edición especial bajo el nombre “Los nuevos impresionistas”. En torno a este tema central, se podrán ver los trabajos en 16mm del canadiense Stephen Broomer, en los que recurre a rápidos barridos, colisiones y movimientos que retan al ojo, y que hacen imaginar al cineasta manejando la cámara como si ejecutara un cuadro de luz con las maneras del action painting.

La editorial Paris Expérimental—creada en 1985— se ha convertido en un peculiar lugar de encuentro entre el cine experimental y su historia. Esta casa editorial, con unas cincuenta publicaciones y eventos de referencia, ha contribuido en Francia al conocimiento y reconocimiento de formas cinematográficas experimentales, a menudo marginalizadas.

Avant-garde: Experimental Cinema of the 1920s and 30s
In the latter half of the 20th Century, Raymond Rohauer was one of the nation's foremost proponents of experimental cinema. Programming diverse films at the Coronet Theatre in Los Angeles, and making the films in his personal archive available for commercial distribution, he helped preserve and promote avant-garde cinema.

This two-DVD collection assembles some of the most influential and eclectic short films in the Rohauer Collection, including works by Man Ray, Hans Richter, Marcel Duchamp, Watson & Webber, Fernand Léger, Joris Ivens, Dimitri Kirsanoff, Jean Epstein, and Orson Welles.
