IndieCork Film Festival 2021 will feature 4 new experimental short films by Arran Tenzin Bradstock in a Special Programme entitled ‘FRAMERATES & Other Works’. Arran, originally from Baile Bhúirne in Cork, Ireland, is a filmmaker and studying for a PhD in Music at UCC. This is the fifth time his work has appeared in IndieCork, and he has also shown work at other festivals such as Fastnet Film Festival, Kerry Film Festival, and Luminous Void Experimental Film Festival.

In today’s high-tech media landscape, where cycles of consumption and disposal and upgrades and updates are commonplace, the subject of obsolescence takes on a heightened significance. Many technological changes have occurred during the history of cinema, but none have had such a transformative effect on the industry as the transition from analogue (or photochemical) film to digital. Since the early 2000s, the medium of film has moved from a dominant to a marginal position as digital technology has rendered photochemical and mechanical technology obsolete on a commercial scale.

Since at least the 1940s, the San Francisco Bay Area has been one of the world’s epicenters of personally expressive filmmaking and community-focused non-mainstream film culture. At the close of a tumultuous and even traumatic year, Cinematheque culminates its 2020 exhibitions with Commingled Containers: Echoes from a Bay, two guest-curated programs highlighting recent works by Bay Area filmmakers and celebrating the continuously-renewing, ever-evolving traditions of the region’s vibrant artist communities.
