At the invitation of la lumière collective, the artist-run filmlab Mire, based in Nantes (France), will present a program of films made in the lab over the years…

Mire’s lab is a shared space where one can work in Super 8 and 16mm. Flat printing, camera-less techniques, tinting and toning, sharp editing, found footage and shot images… experimentation is at the center of this space where individual endeavors are fueled through the exchange of aesthetic perspectives and technical knowledge.

Please join us for the grand re-opening of LaborBerlin! After the success of our crowdfunding campaign FILM AIN’T DEAD we want to share with you the fruit of our collective efforts. We will also introduce our collaborative project REMI with films by our partner labs Filmwerkplaats (NL) and Mire (FR). Have some food and drinks, take a tour, have a look at our wonderful new facilities, watch films or just hang out with us and have a good time!

Karel Doing presents a programme exploring cinematic mischief, with a collection of works that undermine and disrupt contemporary political discourse whilst providing a counterpoint to aestheticism – a tonic for the modern malaise. This selection brings together films from across Europe to reveal surprising links between disparate makers and thinkers – followed by a discussion with the filmmakers about their outspoken and radical positions.
