Guy Sherwin and Lynn Loo Screening in Dublin

By Marcos Ortega on Vie, 18/09/2026 - 09:06

Join us at Dubh Film Lab at Fire Station Artists' Studios in Dublin on Sunday 11 October at 6pm for an experimental film screening by Guy Sherwin and Lynn Loo, including Messages (Guy Sherwin 1984), Conversations (Lynn Loo 2026), and the very special Irish premier of Connemara (Guy Sherwin 1980). Originally shot on 16mm in the 1980s by Sherwin while traveling within the Irish landscape and reflecting on structure, presence, and place, the film remained unseen for over three decades and was lovingly restored by EYE Institute Amsterdam.

Lynn Loo & Guy Sherwin have been working together since 2005 on multiple projector events, sharing the projection of each other’s work in live performance. They have performed these works in a variety of venues in Europe, S.E. Asia, N. America, and Australia.

SCREENING LAV #028: A-Tiempo

By Marcos Ortega on Mié, 21/05/2025 - 08:57

“El movimiento tiene, pues, dos caras, en cierto modo. Por una parte, es lo que acontece entre objetos o partes; por la otra, lo que expresa la duración o el todo. El hace que la duración, al cambiar de naturaleza, se divida en los objetos, y que los objetos, al profundizarse, al perder sus contornos, se reúnan en la duración. Se dirá, por tanto, que el movimiento remite los objetos de un sistema cerrado a la duración abierta, y la duración, a los objetos del sistema que ella fuerza a abrirse.

Tone Glow Presents "You Wouldn't Steal a Movie"

By Marcos Ortega on Lun, 09/09/2024 - 06:15

Tone Glow is excited to announce “You Wouldn’t Steal a Movie,” a program featuring 10 found-footage experimental films. The event will be held at Sweet Void Cinema in Chicago on Saturday, September 14th at 7pm. Throughout history, avant-garde filmmakers have recycled, repurposed, and reimagined older images into their own liking. In culling from a diverse array of sources—advertisements and educational films, newsreels and major motion pictures—they’ve constructed novel works that prove spellbinding in their new contexts.
