    ILLEGAL contemplation (Rrose Present, 2018)

    Conocí a Rrose Present cuando tuve la oportunidad de entrevistarla tras la proyección de "Horizon of meaning", una pieza que formaba parte de "Fusion of Horizons", un proyecto interesantísimo y muy original de "diálogo fílmico" (rodar una película para responder a otra) con el director americano Daniel Barnett.

    In 1967, Larry Gottheim started the Cinema Department at Binghamton University which was the first regular undergraduate program that dealt with cinema as a personal art. Considering the theme of nature in art and functions of racial, cultural and personal identity, Gottheim’s practice explores the ways in which time, movement, and becoming are bound up in a complex relation between formal cinematic patterns and pro-filmic subjects.

  • Movement as Meaning in Experimental Cinema

    Movement as Meaning in Experimental Cinema offers sweeping and cogent arguments as to why analytic philosophers should take experimental cinema seriously as a medium for illuminating mechanisms of meaning in language. Using the analogy of the movie projector, Barnett deconstructs all communication acts into functions of interval, repetition and context. He describes how Wittgenstein's concepts of family resemblance and language games provide a dynamic perspective on the analysis of acts of reference.

    'Daniel Barnett es un importante cineasta experimental que despliega complejas metáforas en sus películas realizadas con la refotografía y otras técnicas de post-producción. (…) White Heart es el más largo y ambicioso de sus trabajos. `El film de Barnett consiste en infinidad de imágenes dispares elegidas por su fuerte sensualidad, maridadas con una laberíntica e igualmente sensual banda sonora.Tras establecer las imágenes básicas, Barnett comienza a entremezclarlas, exagerando alguna de sus cualidades (color, textura) durante el proceso de impresión.
