As part of this special program, you are invited to discover the work of some members of our studio, as well as that of the la lumière collective team.
Donations are welcome for this festive event, which will unfold in several parts – see the programme below. Please note that your donation does not guarantee admission. Exceptionally, entry will operate on a first come, first served basis. Capacity will be limited to 70 people
Presented byla lumière collective and proposed by co-director Emma Roufs, DIFFRACTION is an experimental cinema program that invites viewers to discover the work of six Montreal-based artists who constantly question their relationship with the moving image. In the first part, viewers discover six short 16mm films by Samy Benammar, Charles-André Coderre, Emma Roufs, Malena Szlam, Benjamin R.Taylor and Erin Weisgerber.

The Montreal Underground Film Festival welcomes you for a special retrospective presentation of the expanded cinema performances and short films of Winnipeg filmmaker Aaron Zeghers.

Proposed by Emma Roufs, experimental filmmaker, independent curator and co-director of the micro-cinema la lumière collective (Montreal, Canada), The Montreal Experimental - Analog Visions program is a showcase for experimental filmmaking in Montreal, highlighting the work of contemporary filmmakers interested in analog creation in all its diversity.
At the invitation of la lumière collective, the artist-run filmlab Mire, based in Nantes (France), will present a program of films made in the lab over the years…
Mire’s lab is a shared space where one can work in Super 8 and 16mm. Flat printing, camera-less techniques, tinting and toning, sharp editing, found footage and shot images… experimentation is at the center of this space where individual endeavors are fueled through the exchange of aesthetic perspectives and technical knowledge.
Presented by Emma Roufs, filmmaker and co-founder of la lumière collective, “Lumière sur Montréal expérimental” consists of a program of short films from the field of contemporary Montreal experimental cinema presented in France at: - Nantes - September 8 at MIRE - Paris - September 17 at BRAQUAGE - Marseille - September 24 at VIDEODROME
